Fire Sale Pricing List :

Dear Seattle E-Bike Customer:

You may have heard or read that we are having THE biggest sale since we've opened.  It is both a clearance and a sale of the bikes that were involved in the fire.  Most of those bikes just had to have soot wiped off of them and are perfect and new. Still, we don’t feel right charging full price and are reducing them to 10% or more with full warranty coverage. Bikes that were hit by sprinkler water have been reduced 20% or more. We are also having a sale on all accessories 10% to 70%. Below is a list of what is available as of this morning.

Come in and trade up or buy a bike for a loved one!! This sale is going on through Sunday only!

Johnny Loco Cargo Trikes are IN STOCK!

Being in the bicycle industry, we get all kinds of requests on a daily basis about different bike/e-bike configurations and how to accommodate the vision our customers have. One of the more interesting configurations is the Johnny Loco Reverse Trike with a front carrier bin to haul hundreds of pounds of kids, pets, groceries, and even mobile businesses! For some time now we have been out of stock of these beautifully styled and surprisingly easy-to-ride cargo trikes while we have been waiting for interest to grow and the manufacturer to supply them. Well, the wait is over folks. We now have a TON of these amazing trikes that can be found no where else in America and the greater North American region! Even better news: the US to Euro dollar is better than ever (for us anyway), that means we are selling these models for $2,399 w/o electronics, normally $2,899!

For several months, folks from all over the country have been dying to get these trikes because they are not only so stylish, but incredibly practical and safe! These trikes come with a leaning technology that compensates the weight when turning the handlebars, allowing the trike to be better balanced. Additionally, it comes with an internal 7sp Shimano Nexus hub for low maintenance and plenty of lower gears to climb hills as well as disc brakes for longer lasting stopping power.

Now onto the electronics, since we are of course Seattle E-Bike. We will be selling these lovely trikes with the following configurations:

1)  Shimano STEPS mid-drive 250W motor with a PAS-only up to 20MPH. Comes complete with electronic shifting and a 11.6AH, 36V Li-ion battery. Great for a lightweight, small amount of assist while riding. Price: $3,999 (Available TODAY)

2) eRAD mid-drive mid-drive 500W motor with PAS and Throttle functions. This system, complete with an 11.6AH, 36V li-ion battery, has more of a revved up amount of support for heavier loads and extra performance. Price: $4,299 or with 14.5AH Battery for 10+ more miles per charge: $4,449 (Available within 2-3 weeks after order date)

Add on a rain cover specific to the Johnny loco trikes to protect your cargo/kids!

Delux Rain Cover: $249

Standard Rain Cover: $199

Feel free to stop into our Seattle location today to see one in person or order one by calling us and we can ship to you too! Don't let the summer slip by without being outside and enjoying yourself on this beautifully fun ride.

E-Dog in the Great Seattle E-Bike Fire

Notice Thorssen is shown tethered to a plug.  That is serendipity not cleverness.  So many of us take him for a walk, the leash sometimes gets lost.  The cord you see is a temporary replacement.  But it truly does make Thorssen the e-dog of Seattle E-Bike.
Last Wednesday, May 20, at about 3:10 PM, a fire ignited in Seattle E-Bike.   The fire initially started near the rack where we keep all of our bicycle clothing. Of course, clothing is synthetic which means once flash point is reached, you can say it acts like solid napalm on a candy stick.  POOF!!!  We are thankful that the sprinkler system reinforced by five Seattle fire trucks and 30 brave firemen and women doing their job making the fire damage very minimal. However, between the smoke and roughly 10-20,000 gallons of water, we unfortunately have some major renovating to do and a large chunk of our inventory to replace, none of which was immediately on our minds.

While we were thankful no human was hurt, the owner's dog disappeared.  Thorssen is the store mascot and amazingly sweet, social, Norwegian elk hound.  He loves meeting all of the customers that enter the shop as he sits behind the bikes with his whitish-gray fur blending in with the cement wall. It is very possible that this chipper dog has facilitated many store sales with his happy, tail-wagging welcome.  Thorssen is our official “Store Greeter.”

We watched from behind the fire line and yet there was still no sign of Thorssen.  So beloved is Thorssen that our Chief Tech, Ben, and a noble customer, ran back into the burning store to look for him while our Senior Sales Manager, Mikaela, roamed the streets via ebike searching for him before she left for her vacation.  Then it was the firefighters turn.  In they rushed.  Then, out they came and asked us where Thorssen liked to hide.  They emerged a final time to tell us that 8 of them had spent 20 minutes just looking for Thorssen and they were sure he had escaped the flames and smoke.

Thorssen is not good in Downtown traffic and so our fears then turned to the possibility that he had escaped death by smoke inhalation only to be run down by a truck.  About 80 minutes after the fire started (it felt like a week), we received a call from a vet who had scanned Thorssen's subcutaneous chip and got the owner's phone number.  The moral of the first part of this story is:  CHIP YOUR PETS!!!  If you buy a bike from Seattle E-Bike and you have an unchipped pet, we will pay a vet to chip it.

Back to the store. After a whole week, we have completely emptied our store in preparation to have our flooring redone due to water getting through.  Most of the bikes will again be perfect, so perfect that we are adding a year to each bike's warranty that did not have any water exposure. The warranty stays the same for those that were. Because the bikes that have been exposed to smoke and a few of them to water, we cannot sell the electric bikes "as new."  Therefore, we will be discounting them.  We are in the process of ordering new bikes, about 20 different lines, about 70 (including the neatest electric scooter ever) are already on their way.

The way we are right now....

The way we were and will soon be again

Keep checking in for updates via phone or email and swing by as early as Friday, June 5th.  The smoke exposed bikes have already been starting to sell quickly.  Warmest regards and happy trails! Seattle E-Bike will rise again.  Chip your pets!

Intro from our new Guest Blogger: Mr. Spokes

Seattle E-Bikes is starting a regular Guest Blogger, Spokes Man, an awesome guy determined to spread the word on e-bikes one volt at a time...

but first, a word, or rather 17 syllables, from our Haiku:

electrons . . .
join human effort
to propel spoked wheels
in clean silence.

Hello fellow Bike enthusiasts! Spokes Man here; happy to share my thoughts on the e-bike world.

I have been fortunate to be a part of the e-bike business for a number of years, and watched it grow dramatically. So wanted to open this blog with a little bit about how its grown...and how it hasn't (ie who's scared to make the jump).

The baby boomers were the first to take it up, as they realized they were no longer saddling up old faithful in the garage, and wanted to be motivated to get out there again - to pedal up steep hills once more, to zoom along sun-dappled roads, to move through the air upon he earth, to feel the wind upon ones face...ahh yes.

Then came some truly venerable people. Ages 67, 75, 83. People with the wisdom and appreciation to be transported and once again be able to glide through nature. I know a 67 year old couple that takes their boat to San Juan Island, takes out their two small 20 inch folding bikes, and proceeds to circumnavigate the 52 miles, including 15 stunning miles along the windblown Straits of Juan de Fuca, looking across 18 miles of water to Port Townsend, and behind it, to the Olympics. Then, up the West side, overlooking Haro Straight to the Canadian Gulf Islands and up to Victoria (can you tell I've joined them a time or two? Epic doesn't even begin to describe the sites and feel of this ride). Lots of up and down, the whole trip has more than 1000 vertical feet. Their little bikes are only supposed to go about 30 miles without a charge, but they always ride hard, conserve energy, and are able to go the distance no problem. It's great to be connected with Seattle e-Bike customers like these ones.

The e-bike "Paradigm Shift" challenge is those who are simply too cool for school. So a brief message to our young commuters and cycling purists: Take an 8 mile commute from Greenlake to Downtown or West Seattle to Capitol Hill. 20-30 year old commuters are supposed to be in a hurry, but they chug along on their pure bikes at 12 miles per hour or less, while our 60 year olds buzz by them at 24. Maybe they don’t realize that an e-bike's not your mothers bike. You can pedal as hard and go as fast as you want. Or, you can chill, relax the pedals and concentrate on the the flowers and the Buicks (that you leave in the dust during traffic:), or expend moderate calories and get to work fresh , dry, and in good time. Its all good.

If you are a person who would never miss an opportunity to climb miss Queen Anne Avenue to the top on your way to Freemont, (instead of skulking along on Dexter or Westlake), or if you pedal a 100 cadence at 24 mph up 10 percent slopes like Queen Anne, or 12% slopes like Madison, then by all means skip the extra 13 pounds, the motor and battery adds, and good luck in the Olympics. But young urban warriors who want to do a six mile commute in 15 minutes while getting precisely the exercise they want, have evolved, and know that one is no longer personally defined by what toys one has, but rather by what those toys do, in this case: liberates. What comes is the freedom to select a bike that can do all sorts of things you could not possibly do without hybridization. They have been released from the toil of walking their bike up Virginia, are now free to buy a fine, climbing macine.

After all, bikes move you through the world in the finest of ways and the finest choice is unlikely to harm your community position, and, who knows, you might be in the vanguard when E-Bikes get truly cool, and then you will have it all.

Velicks 700: The French model that we love.

Why the owners favorite model is the french Velicks 700 made by SEV:

The Velicks 700 is a center drive electric road bicycle, the shop owners' favorite! This model is one of two lines made by a French manufacturer, SEV in Provence. They also make a scooter line named eTricks with a 1000 watt mid-drive motor system with speeds of up to 32 MPH.

The owner: "My personal opinion is the French bikes are the best of all worlds. The Italian bikes are the most stylish, the German bikes are the most Mercedes like. The French manage the beauty of the Italian bikes although in a French way, and with the precision of Germany.

My absolute favorite is the Velicks Speed. I just think it is the best looking E-Bike in the store. Combine that with a very sophisticated center drive, great components, perfect balance and handling, and a $4299 price tag, I find this to be the best bargain for an electric road bike."

Currently, we have one demo in the store that we are discounting heavily, with plans to bring more in soon.

If you have something to say about the product, the owner would love to hear it! Email him at brian@electricbikeseattle.com and discuss what you love about it! Any and all feedback is welcome!

Why we said "Yes" to the Gauswheel Spirit Monowheel (and why you will too...)

We are Seattle E-Bike. How can you tell? There is a sign out front. Also walk inside and see dozens and dozens of E-Bikes from Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the U.S.A, Taiwan, and yes, for the budget conscious, China.

Sometimes though, something will have wheels, no motor, and it is so beautiful, or so cool, that we can’t resist. (The stunning Cicli Blume handmade Italian Bikes are one).

Today's post is most definitely about something way cool, brilliant even: The Gauswheel, from Hungary.

The thing is brilliantly designed, and far more versatile, practical, fun, and tough than any monowheel on the market.
If you like to ski, you will love the Gauswheel.
If you love to Shred, you will love the Gauswheel.
If you spend your days at the board park, you will love the Gauswheel.
If you want to scoot to the Bus, fold it up in 5 walk on like you have a 20 pound briefcase and skip the bike rack: Gauswheel, perfect for the last mile of your commute.
If you are from the Northwest and nearly cry everytime you think about those brown ski slopes up there, the worst winter in 40 years: THE GAUSWHEEL WILL EASE YOUR PAIN.

Need to see more? Check out the video

There are two great versions for Seattle:

Check out the braked Spirit Stage 3 (right photo above). Gauswheel publishes comprehensive specs, and it is clear that if you like a nice five foot drop onto concrete, this is your machine. If pain and/or fear is part of the pleasure, this beast will hold up to the abuse.

Sane people deserve Gauswheels, too. They can enjoy the Stage 3, but the Spirit Stage 5 (above left) is slightly more gorgeous in PolyCarbonate: More Beauty, less Beast.

Thought the ski season was over, or actually, never happened? Wrong. Gauswheel.

Gauswheel, coming to the only Seattle E-Bike near you. 570 First Avenue South. Seattle 98101

New Polaris eBikes have arrived!

We are delighted with the new product line Polaris has debuted for 2015. They have not only incorporated regenerative braking/coasting, but these rides are FAST! Not mention a big thumbs up on their design! We are always appreciative of batteries being built into the frames without losing the rigidity of the bike and stylish appeal. We find them to really be the superior bike for the coming 2015 year and are thrilled to announce their arrival at last. The Fat Bikes are especially good looking with a rugged but functional ride for everyday use as well. Most importantly, they have really listened and took a major leap in their new product line compared to their last in terms of overall performance, with some of their models reaching speeds of 25+ MPH!

Check out some of their bikes:

To top it off, we were able to make a special arrangement which will allow us to offer 5% OFF our first TEN 2015 models sold. Say WHAT?!  Why wait? Come in for a test drive already!

Tri-Iffic! Why we love Ti-Trikes new E-Bike

Space age sleekness? Check

Rehab therapist and engineer approved? Check

Coolest Trike we've seen? Check

Coolest Trike we've rode? Double Check.

Last week, we got in what a lot of us think is the most impressive machine ever: our first recumbent bike. But it is also so much more. Powerful and fast, with a gleaming 100 percent titanium frame, superb brakes, and a phenomenally sophisticated steering system, there is little to not love about this marvel of cycle engineering now in our showroom. Our first one is the T250, but we are shortly getting a T450 power assisted hand powered model for people who have no leg function.

Built in Connecticut by a company run by an occupational therapist and a rehab therapist, Ti-Trikes is the first company in the world to design, develop, and build a power-assisted recumbent tricycle. They did this for one simple reason; to make cycling accessible to a broader range of people. With electric propulsion, riders of all ages, shapes, sizes, and ability levels can now be out on the roads riding along with their friends and family.

The owner’s mother came down with MS when he was 7. He saw this machine primarily as a way for people like her to get out and experience the world at a clip, rather than being stuck in a wheelchair, or on a 3 mph power scooter with no suspension or outside capability. If you can walk 20 feet, you can get in and out of the T250. If you are paraplegic, you can pedal the T450, and with electric help, go 40 miles at 20 mph. That's a pretty amazing breakthrough for those who are used to having limited freedom.

What's more, this "problem solver" has morphed into a bike that any cyclist can enjoy, and will. It's already become a favorite among the staff for test rides. With its powerful steering system, smooth ride, and NASA contoured Memory Foam adjustable seat, what's not to love? (And did we mention that Aerospace grade welded Titanium frame?!?)

Don't come down with a case of sticker shock; at $5599 it may offer more value for the money than anything in the store.

Check out more pictures and specs on our website, come in for a test drive, and see if you don’t agree. And you just may liberate yourself, or someone you love, from a wheelchair.

For more information you can visit Ti-Trikes website here

Seattle E-Bike's Extensive Folding Electric Bike Collection

We are thrilled to now offer three different folding bikes for our customers to choose from: E3 CompactEpik Lite, and Mariner 7All three of these bikes are double folding models, making transporting and storing easier than any other bike out there!

So why must we carry so many folders?

Folding bikes are rising in popularity among commuters in Seattle and across the country. Many people have come into our shop and had their eyes set on a full size bike and then realize the convenience of our folders and can't take their eyes off of them! Not to mention, all of these bikes are fairly inexpensive, especially when compared to the non-folding models we carry. They usually come with a smaller motor, but a small motor goes quite a long way in overall torque and battery life on a 20" wheel compared to a larger motor and wheel.

Come in and try one out today! You will be leaving with a smile - we guarantee it!
