FINALLLY... QUALITY E-BIKES FOR $1299!


We have sold hundreds of Emazing Bikes since we opened our doors 6 years ago. They are well made bikes, and light too, only 37 pounds, which is rare in an E-Bike.  At 350 watts, they do not conquer the steepest hills in town without a strong rider, but they have superb pedelec, and are an extraordinary value.

They are introducing a more powerful line, which we think will be a killer, and are working with us to clear out our old inventory from 2016 and 2015 for only $1299 (as-is). It is a while supplies last kind of thing, a great deal from the regular MSRP of $2000.

If price is a problem, you will never get another chance to get a good E-Bike again for this price, so come grab one soon, they won’t be around long. A test ride will convince you they are nicely dialed in.

Batman Bikeboard Private Reveal!

Don't miss out on the redesigned Conway Bikeboard's! Four companies competed against each other by building their own model with the Conway Bikeboard. Last weekend, all four companies presented their new designs with a private Grand Reveal in Spanaway, Washington at the Puget Sound Go Kart Association. After the private Grand Reveal, the four designs competed against each other in three challenges. The three challenges were unknown to everyone until the reveal. 

Challenge #1: Agility:Each team had to ride down a 30-yard stretch of the track. The challenge though, was that every 10-yards, the team had to weave in and out of cones. For every cone that the team avoided the team earned 1 point and any cones knocked down deducted team points.
After each team weaved their way through the tricky cones, one winner stood. The Conway Bikeboard team.

Challenge #1 Results: Conway- 20 points, Seattle E-Bike-0, Garage Asylum-0, Huff Motorsports-0

Challenge #2: Short Distance Speed Race with an awkward item attached to the rider. The fastest team down the 30-yard straight shot would win 20 points. Each team had to draw a card and that card coordinated with a prop they needed to attach to their bike. Garage Asylum ended up with large, stuffed soccer balls. Huff sports had to drag a parachute. Conway Bikeboards had to tow a two-wheeled skateboard with an additional weight on top. Seattle E-Bike had to wear a purple kids backpack. With all the objects in tow, each bike raced down the 30-yard straight shot. Riding furiously forward. The first to fall victim to their towable item was the Conway Bikeboard team; the weight fell off of their skateboard and therefore disqualified them. The rest of the bikes continued on and the purple kids backpack passed the finish line first.

Challenge #2 Results: Seattle E-Bike- 20 points. Conway Bikeboards- 20 points. Garage Asylum- 0 points. Huff Motorsports- 0 points. 

Challenge #3: A Race Around the Go Kart Track. The teams had to race around the entire Puget Sound Go Kart Association track twice. However it is a lot easier said than done. The track had some hills and sharp twists and turns that provided a challenge for all the racers. The race was well-fought and quite entertaining to watch. Each team did great! At the end of the two laps, the rankings were as follows.

Challenge #3 Results: Seattle E-Bike- 40 points. Conway Bikeboards- 20 points. Garage Asylum- 0 points. Huff Motorsports- 0 points.

The Seattle E-Bike team is in the lead with just one Challenge of the Conway Bikeboard Build Off Challenge left and it requires all of your support! 

Challenge #4 Best Bikeboard Build: All the teams of the Conway Bikeboard Build Off Challenge will be revealing them privately at the Pioneer Square First Thursday Art Walk tonight! The next time you can catch all the bikes will be at the Waterline Festival-Wheels and Keels-Car, Motorcycle, Wooden Boat Festival at Des Moines Marina July 24, 2016! Come out to see all the awesome bikes that the teams have built and vote on your favorite bike! The team with the most votes will earn 50 points. At this point in the competition, anyone could win it!

Last week, we got in what a lot of us think is the most impressive machine ever: our first recumbent bike. But it is also so much more. Powerful and fast, with a gleaming 100 percent titanium frame, superb brakes, and a phenomenally sophisticated steering system, there is little to not love about this marvel of cycle engineering now in our showroom. Our first one is the T250, but we are shortly getting a T450 power assisted hand powered model for people who have no leg function.

Built in Connecticut by a company run by an occupational therapist and a rehab therapist, Ti-Trikes is the first company in the world to design, develop, and build a power-assisted recumbent tricycle. They did this for one simple reason; to make cycling accessible to a broader range of people. With electric propulsion, riders of all ages, shapes, sizes, and ability levels can now be out on the roads riding along with their friends and family.

The owner’s mother came down with MS when he was 7. He saw this machine primarily as a way for people like her to get out and experience the world at a clip, rather than being stuck in a wheelchair, or on a 3 mph power scooter with no suspension or outside capability. If you can walk 20 feet, you can get in and out of the T250. If you are paraplegic, you can pedal the T450, and with electric help, go 40 miles at 20 mph. That's a pretty amazing breakthrough for those who are used to having limited freedom.

What's more, this "problem solver" has morphed into a bike that any cyclist can enjoy, and will. It's already become a favorite among the staff for test rides. With its powerful steering system, smooth ride, and NASA contoured Memory Foam adjustable seat, what's not to love? (And did we mention that Aerospace grade welded Titanium frame?!?)

Don't come down with a case of sticker shock; at $5599 it may offer more value for the money than anything in the store.

Understanding Watts, Volts, and Amps in E-Bikes

Happy Octoburrrrrr folks! We have now reached the off-season for bike-riding but that does not stop us or the new innovations in electric bike technology. We have many new electric vehicles in the making and are making BIG plans to accommodate it... stay tuned!

We are noticing that many folks around our neighborhood find it difficult when they wrap their minds around the concept behind electric bikes. Our savvy new Service Technician on board, Daniel Lauzon, does a fantastic job of explaining how electrical terms for an e-bike is interpreted in the American culture as well as how to do the math yourself, relatively speaking. 

 

"The world of e-bikes can be very confusing to people who are not steeped in it. A slew of words get thrown around with little or no context to understand them. Most commonly, “watts” are used to determine the relative power of an electric system, but to many shoppers it's an arbitrary term. Today I'll be explaining what it means, the terms associated with it, and how you can use it to be smart about your next electric purchase.

Watts are a measure of energy either being produced or consumed. Most e-bikes on the market are equipped with a motor rater to between 250 and 500 watts. This means that, at its expected peak, the motor will convert 250 to 500 watts of energy, in this case electricity, into motion by turning the wheel. For e-bikes, this is used to describe the power of the motor the same way Horsepower is used for a car.

A motor's wattage isn't always useful to determine an e-bikes expected range, however. To estimate that, you need to look at the battery, which has two ratings: “voltage” and “amp-hours”, often abbreviated to “V” and “Ah”. Volts are the amount of stored 'oomph' the battery can hold, or a measurement of potential energy. Amps are a measure of current, best thought of here as how quickly the battery can discharge the volts of potential energy into watts of usable power.

Because an e-bike has a complete system, the amps are measured in hour time frames and marked as “Amp-hours”. This allows you to do the range math: potential power (Volts) multiplied by how fast the battery can discharge that energy (Amp-hours) gives you “Watt-hours”, often abbreviated “Wh”. You can then divide the battery's watt-hours by the wattage of the motor, telling you how many hours the battery can power the motor at the motor's top speed. Multiply that by the top speed in miles per hour, and you have the estimated range in miles!

In the real world, this is much more complicated. A 500 watt motor will often consume up to 750 watts during hard acceleration or trying to maintain top speed up a hill. Often you will be pedaling your e-bike, taking some or all of the load away from the motor, and sometimes you'll be coasting. These things can all shift an e-bike's range to a significant degree from what is listed. Pedal-assist bicycles often have more ranges that are easier to replicate in daily riding because they encourage the rider to pedal, while throttle-based systems can be used at maximum with no immediate consequences.

This explanation is meant to give you a better idea of what the terms and numbers associated with e-bikes mean. The explanations have been simplified significantly so they can be understood more easily and the calculations are rules of thumb rather than rigorous scientific equations. Nevertheless, you can use them for “back-of-the-napkin” math problems and as a way to understand the pros and cons of different e-bikes and their motor systems."

 

Now that we all know how the terminology that makes up an electric bike semi-works, imagine yourself riding an e-bike without having to sweat and conquering that hill at around 4 cents per charge! Equate that into miles per gallon, with the gas price at $4 a gallon at 20 miles a gallon and 20 miles per charge on an electric bike, that would be 2,000 miles per gallon monetarily speaking for the electric bike! This efficient, eco-friendly way of transportation simply puts the cash back in your pocket while giving you an exhilarating and efficient bike ride to wherever you need to go, whenever.
